After finishing Shakespeare and Rock'N'Roll in Late July of 1996, Ian was offered the role of Swing Buddy Holly plus cover Joe and Niki (the crickets) in the Hamburg production of The Buddy Holly Story. Starting in November 1996, the first performance as Niki Sulivan was in late November. Then Ian started learning the role of 'Buddy' and premiered on the 22nd of December 1996 being the first and only Non-Native German speaking actor to realise this role in Germany!
